vista and nntp bug

Vista and an NNTP bug

Interesting little bug that just happened in the private NG's just now-seems it made us "common folk" privy to some inside info-just for a quick sec-Ahh very interesting to see how MS and MVP's really view these groups not to mention Beta tester's;and what's really going on inside the Vista world.

How d'ya mean exactly?

Ah Zach, Without getting myself into bad "graces" with MS let me just say this. About an hour back;I was in the private news NNTP;then all of a sudden my newsgroup disappeared and POOF a WHOLE bunch of private MVP NG's popped up and were downloading messages into my pc. Not being the vindictive sort-I won't name any specific people-however to validate this-one group in particular was- Private.MVP.Coffeehouse. One was private.mvp.expert zone, etc. All in all approximately 20 newsgroups were "open" to anyone-for awhile that I saw; and it was Quite interesting;the interactions of MVP's and MS employees. especially one instance about voting, MVP&MS interaction and features and timetables for Vista. Don't want to get anyone in trouble, least of which;myself. Suffice it to say; I have knowledge gained; by someone's mistake;that seriously changes my opinion about many in these groups. Not to worry, I didn't run across any posts from you or Andre!!! LOL Jeff

Running 5308, I can't get Windows Mail to connect to any other news servers I use except msnews.microsoft.com. Anyone else have luck with this?

It's not much different in beta 2. it connects, but wont download the groups list.

Thanks for the feedback. I hope they fix it soon! Thankfully I have

had no issues with the latest version of Thunderbird running on Vista yet. :)
